The run up to Christmas is always a busy time in Westminster and this has been more so than usual. I think though that a lot of mainstream media continue to focus on personalities and potential divisions rather than what actually matters to people and their families.
Many of us know what great work pubs do in the community to bring people together, whether that’s over a drink, meal, through events for Halloween or Christmas or through sport.
The new session of Parliament began on Tuesday with the King’s Speech and it was a good reminder of how we do occasions like that probably better than anywhere else in the world. The Houses of Parliament have bad WiFi, leaky roofs and a few mice but they look good on days like that.
Conservative Conference took place this week with the backdrop of the UK’s growth since the pandemic having been upgraded for the period since the pandemic and it is clear now that our economic performance has been better than any other country in Europe.
