The Yeovil constituency is in the south of Somerset and consists of Chard, Crewkerne, South Petherton, Ilminster, Yeovil and surrounding villages. With picturesque views and glorious countryside, it is a beautiful part of the country.

It has business and industry at its heart, with many huge employers and manufacturers based here. One area in particular is defence, with numerous companies and bases established here and over 8000 working in this sector alone. World renowned helicopter manufacturers Agusta Westland, Thals Naval Division which designs and supplies defence systems and the Royal Naval Air Station based in Yeovilton.

Not only is defence a key contributor to our local economy, but innovative technologies is also a stronghold of South Somerset’s. With such companies as Honeywell Aerospace and BAE Systems both based in Yeovil itself.

Manufacturing in general is also a huge contributor to our local economy. Additional to the above, Numatic International Ltd in Chard produces the world famous Henry Hoover vacuum cleaners .

We also have famous tourist destinations throughout our constituency. Including the Fleet Air Museum (Ilchester), Europe’s largest naval aviation collection including helicopters and wing aircraft. Also, Montacute House (nr Yeovil), an Elizabethan mansion with gardens. Finally, Yeovil Football Club is a huge draw to the area, with support constituency wide for our team!
