January can be a month when people and businesses face some tough challenges and I know that there are some concerns about our town centres. Our shops are facing huge pressure from internet competition and empty retail units can dent the attractiveness of an area.
I have started the year with a series of strategic meetings with key local groups including the Police, Yeovil District Hospital, South Somerset District Council and the management of Yeovil Town Football Club.
I am hugely grateful to the good people of Yeovil and South Somerset for re-electing me a week ago. Over ten thousand more of you voted for me than when I was first elected in 2015. Across the country though the big winner was democracy.
We venture further into uncharted territory this week and discover not only do the Supreme Court judges feel that Parliament should be sitting but that Prorogation never actually happened. It is as if the last two weeks were all a dream - Parliament has been resumed as it was never away.
